Evidence-based clinical answers regarding oral biopsies, surgical margin clearance, wisdom tooth recovery, and cashless insurance claims at Medinova.
I live outside Guwahati (Upper Assam / neighboring states). Can Medinova review my reports before I travel? ▼
Yes, absolutely. For patients traveling from Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Tezpur, or neighboring states like Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, or Nagaland, Medinova offers a preliminary WhatsApp report review. You can send your biopsy reports, CT/MRI scans, or clear clinical photos to our surgical triage desk at +91 86387 16926. Our clinical surgical team, including Dr. Pranab Paul and Dr. Barnakshi Deka, reviews your files within 24 to 48 hours to confirm whether an immediate clinic visit or surgical intervention is required before you make travel plans.
Do I need a doctor's referral letter to consult at Medinova, and what should I bring to my first visit? ▼
No referral letter is required—any patient or family member can book directly with Medinova. For your first consultation, please bring: (1) Any previous dental X-rays, OPG scans, or CT/MRI films; (2) Biopsy reports or glass slides (if already done); (3) Recent blood reports; (4) Your health insurance / Ayushman Bharat card; and (5) A list of any daily medications you take (e.g. for blood pressure or diabetes).
Can I use health insurance (Mediclaim) or Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) for surgery at Medinova? ▼
Yes. Inpatient maxillofacial and oncological surgeries—including oral cancer resections, jaw cyst enucleations, facial fracture repairs, and reconstructive procedures—are medically recognized treatments covered under private health insurance policies. Medinova's administrative team provides end-to-end assistance with cashless TPA pre-authorization paperwork, and we actively support government health schemes like Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY).

When should I see an Oral Oncologist / Maxillofacial Surgeon at Medinova instead of a general dentist? ▼
While general dental clinics focus on routine teeth cleaning, scaling, and simple fillings, Medinova’s surgical team specializes in complex maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology, and head & neck oncology. You should consult Medinova for mouth ulcers that do not heal after 14 days, white or red patches (leukoplakia/erythroplakia), deep jaw swellings or bone cysts, complex impacted wisdom teeth near major nerve canals, facial bone fractures, and corrective jaw alignment.
What is an oral biopsy at Medinova and is it painful? ▼
An oral biopsy is a brief, minor diagnostic procedure performed in Medinova’s sterile clinical suite where a small specimen of tissue is collected under gentle local anesthesia. Patients experience zero pain during the procedure, and post-procedural soreness is mild and managed with simple medication. Same-day tissue accession enables rapid histopathological reporting by Dr. Barnakshi Deka.
How do I book an urgent maxillofacial trauma or emergency consultation at Medinova? ▼
For acute facial trauma, vehicular accidents, dental avulsions, or severe jaw fractures, call our 24/7 emergency triage line immediately at +91 86387 16926 or walk directly into Medinova Clinic on the 2nd Floor, Kishni Plaza, GS Road (near Ulubari Flyover), Guwahati.
